Rabies Found In Livermore: Sick Bat Tests Positive
Officials are advising that pets, including cats, should be up to date on rabies vaccines.
LIVERMORE, CA — A bat that Livermore Animal Control picked up Friday has tested positive for rabies, it was announced Tuesday. The sick bat was found by employees at a business at Second Street and S. Livermore Avenue.
Livermore Animal Services sent the bat to the Alameda County Public Health Department for rabies testing and learned the results Monday.
Officials are advising that anyone who may have touched or contacted the rabid bat should seek immediate medical attention, and all public health concerns must be reported to the County Public Health Department at (510) 267-3250.

Vector control officials will be leafleting the affected neighborhood where the rabid bat was found with a "Rabies Alert" pamphlet.
