Deadly Crash On I-580 Under Investigation: CHP

A woman died after her vehicle reportedly went over an embankment.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision reported on westbound Interstate 580 just west of Grant Line Road near the Altamont Pass Wednesday afternoon. A woman died after her vehicle went off the south edge of westbound I-580 and down a ravine between the westbound and eastbound sides of the highway before overturning, CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said. The driver died at the scene and her name hasn't been released.

The deadly crash was reported just after 1:20 p.m., according to the CHP. The CHP and Alameda County Fire Department crews responded to assist those involved. A Sig-alert for area was lifted just after 3 p.m. No other information is available.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Dublin CHP office at (925) 828-0466.
