Swarm Of Bees In Livermore Safely Relocated

A Livermore business owner called a local beekeeper to help move the swarm so they could be free.

LIVERMORE, CA — A swarm of bees discovered in a tree near the Bankhead Theater in Livermore Wednesday have been safely relocated. Rick Dobbs, who owns The Last Word, said one of his bartenders spotted the swarm nearby.

The swarm was reported to the police department and after discovering that animal control services does not handle bees, Dobbs contacted a local beekeeper with the Mount Diablo Beekeepers Association to help.

Dobbs said the beekeeper responded to remove the bees and gently knocked them into a special box so they could be safely relocated. The $50 removal fee goes toward bee education, according to Dobbs.
