Shoppers Expected To Jam Traffic Around Livermore Outlets

The San Francisco Premium Outlets is ready for the influx of shoppers.

LIVERMORE, CA — Increased traffic around Livermore's San Francisco Premium Outlets over the Memorial Day Weekend is expected, so police are telling residents and shoppers where congestion will be worst. "May 25-27, 2019 is Memorial Day Weekend and the San Francisco Premium Outlets is ready for the influx of shoppers. As a result, the Livermore Police Department would like to remind all shoppers of issues that may arise during a major holiday weekend," the department stated in a notice shared on social media.

"LPD expects an increase in traffic congestion to not only include the neighboring streets, but the I-580 freeway," the notice continued. "As a result, expect both eastbound and westbound directions of I-580 at El Charro Boulevard to be impacted as well as Jack London Boulevard, as shoppers use the surface streets to enter the center. LPD advises commuters to avoid these areas in order to prevent further traffic congestion."

Livermore police said they have a traffic mitigation plan in place that consists of additional cones and reader boards. "Please follow the signs in order to safely travel around the center and support the flow of traffic," the department's notice said. "LPD would like to remind all shoppers to remain patient as they seek parking within designated parking areas."

The outlet mall has recently increased its parking by 800 spaces. A shuttle service from this new parking lot to the entrance off Jack London Boulevard will run from 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1-5 p.m. Monday, according to the department.

Livermore police are asking that shoppers park in appropriately marked lots and to "remain respectful of the surrounding properties" that are not part of the outlets' property.
