Tri-Valley 9/11 Ceremony Goes Virtual
The event will feature a keynote from a lieutenant colonel who supported the president from a bunker on the day of the attacks.
LIVERMORE, CA — Friday evening, in remembrance of 9/11, Tri-Valley residents can hear from Lt. Col. Robert J. Darling, who supported White House officials from the president's bunker on the day of the attacks nearly two decades ago.
The free event is hosted by the Las Positas College Veterans First program. More than 600 veterans were enrolled at the college last year, according to the school.
Darling, who served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, was working in the White House Military Office, Airlift Operations Department on 9/11, the college said. Darling will take listeners behind the scenes to hear how officials reacted when the plane crashed into the first tower and share acts of bravery that some took in an attempt to thwart the attacks.
