The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance (TVNA) is a membership-based resource organization created to serve the needs of nonprofit organizations throughout the Tri-Valley and San Francisco Bay Area at large. The mission of the TVNA is to provide nonprofit organizations with opportunities to meet, collaborate and share resources, strengthening each other as they work to raise community awareness and strive to achieve their missions.

Each month, the TVNA meets on the second Thursday from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Hertz Foundation board room. Monthly meetings feature seminars led by industry leaders and break-out brainstorming sessions with peers and colleagues alongside regular opportunities for organizations to do presentations about their cause. Built on the concept that ‘together we’re better’ the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance has already formed a sizable membership of several dozen nonprofit organizations located not only in the Tri-Valley region, but also throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Within its first year, TVNA has seen numerous successful introductions and collaborations amongst its member organizations and local businesses that would never have had the opportunity to flourish without involvement in the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance.

Founders Katherine Young, Chief Operating Officer of the Hertz Foundation, and Mony Nop, a Livermore realtor and President of the Mony Nop Foundation, formed the organization in early 2014 with a vision to unite organizations in order to foster collaborative partnerships and community development. The Alliance brings together nonprofit organizations, community members, business leaders, government officials and more to network, share resources and learn information and skills relevant to board directors, staff members and volunteers who work to make a difference in their communities and the world at large.

TVNA offers regular opportunities to meet with peers to enhance and grow the skills and talents of dedicated people who work and volunteer for local nonprofit organizations. Angie Carmignani, Executive Director at the Taylor Family Foundation in Livermore, was a key leader in the organization’s inception. Camingnani feels strongly that “nonprofit organizations in the Tri-Valley region should have a resource center providing access to each other and enabling them to share best practices in thenonprofit business sector. It’s no secret that the dozens of nonprofit organizations in our region lack core support to navigate the ‘new normal’ created by contemporary challenges that we all face in this sector. I believe there is support in numbers—by coming together, we’ll help to make each organization stronger individually and, in turn, our collaborations will also serve to create a healthier community for us all.”
