Tri-Valley Students Honored As Dreammakers, Risktakers

The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France this past summer in the category for Emerging Filmmakers.

From Innovation Tri-Valley: Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group, a business organization showcasing the regional Tri-Valley ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurism, announced today the first of its 2018 student award recipients, an extraordinary group of young leaders using technology and innovation to change the world and improve our future.

Dublin High School student inventors of the Stay On Course mobile application have been named the first of several 2018 Dreammakers and Risktakers Award recipients. Neha Harpanhalli and Christy Koh designed the commercial mobile application specifically for high school students to help them measure their progress toward fulfilling the requirements needed to graduate with their desired diploma. Students may download the application and use it to keep track of their academic progress, volunteer hours, and participation in extracurricular activities. Las Positas Middle College Student Sarah Whalen is a Livermore resident and will be honored for writing and directing a science fiction film titled The Risen. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France this past summer in the category for Emerging Filmmakers.

Several more student innovators will be announced and celebrated at the seventh annual Dreammakers and Risktakers Award Luncheon on October 18 th at the Palm Event Center in the Vineyards in Pleasanton.
This 8th annual event salutes the Tri-Valley’s youngest innovators, and the awardees represent school districts all across the Tri-Valley region and Las Positas College “We are inspired and amazed by these young dreammakers and risktakers” said Lynn Naylor, CEO of Innovation Tri- Valley Leadership Group. “Their projects are not only technically advanced, but they include social innovation components, they demonstrate true grit, and above all a heartfelt desire to make the world a better place.” To join the 2018 Dreammakers and Risktakers luncheon celebration on Thursday, October 18, 2018, register at www.innovationtrivalley.org.
