A little more than a week ago, thousands of high school and middle school students in Tri-Valley walked out of class as part of a nationwide effort to push lawmakers to come up with "common sense gun control" laws and to remember the victims of the tragic February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead. Students in Pleasanton recently created a group called Students For Social Change to help raise money for the Florida victims.
The rally began at 10 a.m. on the Livermore High School football field. The group plans to march for about mile through Livermore and wrap the demonstration with a gun violence prevention resource fair to help share information about signing petitions, registering to vote and learning about mental health care. Those are attending are encouraged to order a t-shirt online or volunteer to help.

The Tri-Valley event is sponsored by NAMI-Tri-Valley and Organizing for Action EBC Tri-Valley team. Livermore High is located at 600 Maple St.
