Triple Digits Expected Tuesday In Livermore; Heat Watch Issued
Livermore Public Library is open as a cooling center during the day, along with many other locations.
LIVERMORE, CA — Crank up the air conditioning, Livermore: Tuesday’s going to be a scorcher.
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch in Livermore, the Tri-Valley and most of inland California that will last Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Livermore can expect a high of 102 degrees Tuesday, and meteorologists warn that temperatures could reach as high as 105 degrees in the area, which would approach or break records in several areas. A high of 96 is predicted Wednesday, then 94 degrees Thursday.

The extreme heat presents increased risk of heat-related illnesses like exhaustion, stroke and dehydration. The National Weather Service advises:
- Limiting outdoor strenuous activities during the hottest times of the day.
- Never leaving kids or pets unattended in vehicles.
- Staying in air-conditioned areas.
- Taking extra care of pets, crops and livestock.
- Watching for hot pavement when walking dogs.

Contra Costa County provides six main cooling centers:
- Contra Costa Social Services buildings in Brentwood (151 Sand Creek Road), Richmond (1305 MacDonald Ave.) and Pleasant Hill (400 Ellinwood Way.) These are all open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Alcosta Senior and Community Center: 9300 Alcosta Boulevard, San Ramon (Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.)
- Brentwood Community Center: 35 Oak Street, Brentwood, (Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.)
- San Ramon City Hall: 7000 Bollinger Canyon Road (Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.)
