Unify Livermore To Hold Rally To Save Stockmen’s Park
The rally will take place on Sept. 21 at the future site of Stockmen's Park.

From Unify Livermore: Unify Livermore; an advocacy group that promotes local issues, encourages political engagement, and strives for transparency in Livermore politics; announced today that they are holding a Press Conference and Community Rally September 21st at 2:30pm at the future site of Stockmen’s Park just outside Blacksmith Square to stop a referendum put out to delay, and possibly destroy, the new downtown plan and the Stockmen’s Park.
Despite the council voting 5-0 in favor of the new plan, months of public outreach, and listening sessions; a wealthy special interest set up a Political Action Committee (PAC) to oppose the new downtown plan. This PACK is working to delay the downtown plan and Unify Livermore is fighting back. On Sept. 10th, 2018, the Livermore City Council unanimously approved the new downtown plan and it immediately came under assault. By 9:00AM the following day a small but well-funded PAC, going by the name “Friends of Livermore”, began the process to file a referendum to overturn the City Council’s new plan. All of this while pushing ads in the local paper every week for months using misdirection and misinformation to sour the process.
Unify Livermore has decided ‘enough is enough’. We are mobilizing Livermore citizens, businesses, and organizations in opposition to this wasteful referendum. We support the downtown plan and the Stockmen’s Park, and echo Councilman Coomber who stated, “Because of the incredible amount of time city staff dedicated to making this hotel as close to perfect as possible... it wasn't hard to support this project”. We hope to stop this referendum to save the City of Livermore from a costly special election, a delay, and, most importantly, to stop proving that money is more important than people.

We encourage everyone to NOT sign the petition rejecting the downtown plan and hope you join Unify Livermore at the Press Conference and Community Rally September 21st at 2:30pm.
