Vehicle Fire Blamed For Wildlands Blaze At Altamont Pass

Crews were able to quickly douse the blaze and contain it under 2 acres.

ALTAMONT PASS, CA — A brush fire that broke out early Wednesday afternoon along eastbound I-580 and Grantline Road at Altamont Pass was contained to just under 2 acres, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The blaze was ignited by a vehicle fire that extended into surrounding vegetation, according to the ACFD.

Along with ACFD and Cal Fire, crews from Tracy Fire E94 and the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department also responded to the blaze.

"Fire units on scene were able to gain rapid containment and control the perimeter limiting the fire growth to 1.6 acres with no injuries or structures lost," the ACFD reported.

Crews remained on scene well into the afternoon to mop up.
