$10 Million-Plus in Grants Awarded to CSU Campuses for Teacher's Training in Math, Science
The grants were awarded by the S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation to bolster the CSU's New Generation of Educators Initiative.
Eleven California State University campuses — including Dominguez Hills, Fullerton and Long Beach — were awarded grants to improve training for kindergarten-through-eighth-grade teachers to implement the state’s math and science standards, the university announced Monday.
The grants, ranging from $600,000 to $1.2 million, were awarded by the S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation to bolster the CSU’s New Generation of Educators Initiative.
“For California and the nation to continue leading in the world’s key economic sectors, we must continue to ensure our teachers are equipped with the latest teaching strategies that support high standards, innovation and creativity,” said Loren Blanchard, CSU executive vice chancellor for academic and student affairs. “Through this vital foundation funding, the CSU will continue to expand its collaboration with school districts to ensure K-8 students receive the highest quality instruction for college and career readiness.”
