2 Bank Robberies, 4 Days Apart: Suspect Arrested In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — A 23-year-old Long Beach man has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies that occurred just four days apart, police said Thursday.

Reginald B. Black Jr. is suspected in robberies at two banks in North Long Beach on July 23 and July 27, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The most recent robbery occurred July 27, when police said Black entered a bank in the 2200 block of East Carson Street and demanded money before fleeing.

Officers responded and arrested Black nearby, police said. He was booked on suspicion of robbery and obstruction, with bail set at $100,000.

Detectives investigating the robbery later linked Black to another bank robbery that occurred four days earlier in the 4500 block of Atlantic Avenue, according to police.

Police did not disclose how much money was allegedly taken in either robbery or identify the banks involved.

Black was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, with a tentative court date scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
