LONG BEACH, CA — LA Fitness has announced that one of its locations in the Long Beach area is closing soon.
According to a notice posted at the LA Fitness facility at 2180 N. Bellflower Blvd. in Long Beach, just south of Stearns Street, that gym will be permanently close on May 25 at 4 pm.
"At that time, your access will expand to include all of our LA Fitness locations nationwide," the notice states.
No reason has been given for the closure, but Patch has reached out to LA Fitness' corporate offices for more information.
The nearest LA Fitness to the soon-to-close Bellflower location is the facility at 4438 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, near the Traffic Circle.
That club has recently been remodeled and has new workout equipment, refurbished saunas and new paint and flooring, according to the company.
The Bellflower Boulevard location's closure is the latest in a string of LA Fitness gym closures across the U.S. this year, including Texas, Ohio, Virginia and Minnesota, among other places.
Reasons for the closures have varied, with some due to landlord disputes, declining memberships and consolidation.
