• Large Gym Chain To Close Long Beach Facility (patch.com) — Long Beach residents who use the LA Fitness on North Bellflower Boulevard will soon lose that gym, which is set to close permanently on May 25. Members’ access will automatically expand to all LA Fitness locations, including the recently remodeled Pacific Coast Highway club with upgraded equipment and facilities.    

• Day Trip Festival reveals 2026 lineup for Long Beach return (electronicgroove.com) — House, disco and techno fans in Long Beach can look forward to Day Trip Festival returning to the Queen Mary Waterfront on June 27–28, 2026, with headliners like Cloonee, Odd Mob and GORDO. The sixth edition also features a Green Velvet b2b Josh Baker debut, RuPaul and Rebecca Black DJ sets, and more artists still to be announced.    

• Wilson and Long Beach Poly sprinters shine at Moore League Track Finals (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach track fans just watched Wilson and Long Beach Poly athletes light up the Moore League Finals at Poly’s home track, with multiple state-leading times and school records. Local sprinters and relay teams now head into CIF-SS prelims and finals chasing even faster marks later in May.
