15-Year-Old Arrested In Fatal Long Beach Shooting Of Teen

LONG BEACH, CA — A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of another 15-year-old boy last week in Long Beach, police said.

The shooting happened around 12:32 p.m. May 28 near Cedar Avenue and Plymouth Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Officers responding to reports of a shooting found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Long Beach homicide detectives identified a 15-year-old suspect during their investigation and arrested him May 29 in Lakewood, police said.

The teen was booked at the Long Beach Jail on suspicion of murder and being a minor in possession of a firearm, police said. He was later transferred to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, where he was being held without bail.

Police said the motive remained under investigation.

The victim was identified as a 15-year-old boy, but his identity was withheld family notification.

Detectives planned to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
