LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police have released surveillance video of a vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured two teenagers riding motorized dirt bikes.
Collision Investigation detectives are asking for the public's help identifying the driver of a gray, four-door Ford Fusion that police say struck the teens before leaving the scene.
The crash happened at about 6:21 p.m. July 25 at the intersection of Market Street and Elm Avenue.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were riding motorized dirt bikes westbound on Market Street when they were struck by the northbound Ford Fusion.
The driver fled before officers arrived, police said.
Both teenagers were transported to a hospital. The 16-year-old suffered critical injuries, while the 17-year-old sustained moderate injuries.
The newly released surveillance footage shows what investigators believe is the suspect vehicle in the area around the time of the collision.
