Woman Killed In Long Beach Hit-and-Run

LONG BEACH, CA — A woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Long Beach, police said Saturday.

The collision occurred about 7:20 p.m. Friday at Baltic Avenue and Burnett Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The woman was walking northbound in a marked crosswalk on Baltic Avenue when she was struck by a white pickup truck traveling southbound and attempting to turn east onto Burnett, police said. The driver continued eastbound on Burnett.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the woman to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The woman's identity was withheld pending notification of her relatives by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Her approximate age was not disclosed.

Neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving appeared to be factors in the collision, according to a preliminary investigation.
