LONG BEACH, CA — A boy was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Shoreline Drive and Beach Access Road at about 10:10 p.m. Friday, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
The child, running across lanes of traffic on Shoreline Drive, was struck by a 2026 Honda Accord. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police, the department said.
"At this time, neither speed, distracted driving, nor impaired driving are believed to be contributing factors in the collision," according to a police statement. "The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld due to his age and the pending notification to the next of kin."
Anyone with information regarding the crash was urged to call the LBPD at 562-570-7132. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
