Angelenos Can Now Register to Vote Online

Los Angeles is one of 38 California counties that have joined VoteCal, an online voter database that allows residents to register to vote online, check the status of vote-by-mail ballots and find their polling places, authorities announced Tuesday.

Los Angeles, along with Glenn, Fresno, Kern and Napa counties, launched VoteCal on Monday.

“We are hitting the home stretch, as VoteCal has been deployed in over two-thirds of the state,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla, calling it a “monumental step in connecting all of California to a modernized, uniform voter registration database.”

In addition to helping voters, the database will allow county officials to accurately maintain voter rolls.

“This is a critical step forward in enabling other reforms to enhance the voting experience in California and to better ensure the integrity of our voter registration data,” said Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan.
