Residents escaped an apartment building fire on Olive Avenue. Also, who stole a man's retirement watch? Finally, LBPD officers detained robbery suspects who drove off with a victim's car.

Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:
- At just three minutes after noon on Wednesday, 28 members of the LBFD responded to a fire in the 900 block of Olive Avenue. In just three minutes, they put out the blaze in the two-story apartment building. "Two people were taken to a hospital and one person was displaced." (LB Post)
- An 88-year-old man was robbed of his watch by two men last Thursday when he was sitting in front of his Alamitos Heights home. Two men drove up, exited their vehicle, knocked the elderly man to the ground, and "took the beloved watch that was given to him by the Long Beach Lifeguard Association about 30 years ago to commemorate his retirement." - On Thursday, at around 3:14 a.m., the LBPD arrived at the 700 block of East Shoreline Drive, where a man and woman "stated they were just robbed at gunpoint." The robbers took the woman's car. The PD recovered it later near the 1600 block of PCH. "Officers detained one male adult suspect, one male juvenile suspect, and one female adult who were in the vehicle." A man who ran away came back and surrendered, too. (LBPD)
- Admiral Kidd Park Playground Update: When someone deliberately torched the playground on July 18 – for which nobody has been arrested – they took away a seventh district play area. However, we learned on Friday that Partners of Parks LB "just spent $400,000 for playground equipment." Future funds raised for the project net qualified donors "an engraved brick in the playground walkway" and will be spent on "surfacing and other construction requirements, as well as permits." - A jogger, a driver, and a bicyclist walk up to a median. This is not the beginning of a joke, but LB good Samaritans, caught on film by Reporter Kevin Flores. A Mini got stuck on a narrow median. A group of six men seemed to come from every direction, picked up the car, put it back on the street, and enabled the driver to keep going. (Kevin Flores)

- A Belmont Heights South neighbor is trying to find the owner of this dog a friend found running in the street. He is a miniature pinscher or Chihuahua. He is chipped, but the contact number is no longer in service. (Nextdoor)
- Our Wrigley Heights Proper neighbor asks has anyone done any backyard fencing lately? They're trying to get an idea of what the cost would be. (Nextdoor)
- A South of Conant neighbor is looking for a dog walker who can come in the afternoons 3-5 times a week. Walks would be approximately half an hour, give or take. Odin is leash trained and non-reactive with other dogs or people. (Nextdoor)
