Architectural Gem Of Long Beach Wins SIXTH Award

Long Beach Heritage gave its Preservation Award to the First Congregational Church’s rose window restoration project this week. Steve Crow, Cara Varnell, Pam Chapin, Sam Johnson, and Dorothy King of the First Church Historic Preservation Committee received the award. The First Church moderator, Sara Schoenfelder, and the architectural conservator, John Fidler, were also present.

You might be surprised to know that this is the sixth award the project has received! Others include the 2021 Preservation Design Award from the California Preservation Foundation, a Preservation Award from the Victorian Society in America, the 2021 Nigel Williams Prize in Ceramic Conservation from the UK Institute for Conservation, the 2021 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award: Historic Preservation Award of Merit from the Structural Engineers Association of California, and the Vitruvian Award for Outstanding Façade Preservation from Façade Tectonics. All this means we should be very proud of the amazing project we accomplished with its gorgeous results.
