The man suspected of shooting him, 24-year-old Long Beach resident Garrett Remillard, was arrested shortly after in the area of 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard, according to police. He appeared to be having a mental health crisis when officers found him and made comments incriminating himself in the deadly shooting, police said.
It's still unclear what prompted the shooting, and the circumstances remain under investigation. But police said in a statement Friday morning that Remillard and Lopez knew each other.
