UPDATE: On April 17, the body was identified as that of a 40-year-old man.

LONG BEACH, CA — The county medical examiner's office is investigating a body that washed ashore in Long Beach on Tuesday morning.

The body came ashore south of Ocean Boulevard and 15th Place in the Alamitos Beach neighborhood.

"On April 14, 2026, at approximately 11:32 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of East Ocean Boulevard regarding a body in the water," the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

"Upon arrival, officers located the body of a male adult with no signs of foul play," the statement continued. "Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the individual was deceased."

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently on the scene, and police say that the investigation is ongoing.
