LONG BEACH, CA – A brush fire alongside the freeway has caused the southbound lanes of the Long Beach 710 Freeway to close at Del Amo Boulevard. The bulk of the operations are curerntly at Del Amo Blvd and Susana Rd, according to Long Beach Fire Department officials. Firefighters are in the process of conducting "mop-up operations," using bulldozers to move piles of mulch to thin it out, according to Jake Heflin, LBFD Public Information Officer, and then cooling off the hot spots that are scattered in the area.
