Car-To-Car Shooting Investigation Shuts Down Traffic Near Signal Hill

Long Beach police are searching for a suspect who is believed to have shot at a man while they were driving.

LONG BEACH, CA — A car-to-car shooting investigation shut down traffic on major Long Beach streets near Signal Hill Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Long Beach police received a report of a shooting at approximately 3:49 p.m. in the 3800 block of Willow Street, authorities said. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body.

Preliminary investigation results revealed that the victim was driving westbound on Willow Street when he noticed that the man in the car behind him was pointing a gun at him and shooting in his direction.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction after striking the victim before LBPD arrived on the scene. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics were on the scene to treat the victim's injuries.

During the investigation, LBPD shut down westbound Willow Street from Bellflower Boulevard to Redondo Avenue until further notice.
