  • Racial Equity and Reconciliation Initiative; Award of Merit – Advancing Diversity and Social Change in Honor of Paul Davidoff from the APA California Chapter and Award of Excellence from the APA Los Angeles section
    • Acknowledging the existence and long-standing impacts of systemic racism in Long Beach and the country, the Long Beach City Council unanimously adopted the Racial Equity and Reconciliation: Initial Report in August 2020. Following extensive listening sessions and data analysis facilitated by the City’s Office of Equity, the initiative outlines goals, strategies and action steps for addressing anti-Black racism, advancing racial equity and reconciling with the vision that race should not determine social and economic outcomes for those who live or work in Long Beach.

    • Led by the Development Services Department, SEASP represents more than 10 years of planning, collaborating, compromise and community engagement for the southeast area of the City of Long Beach and Los Angeles County. The plan accommodates substantial new opportunity for urban growth and habitat preservation within the 1,500-acre planning area.

    • The ambitious initiative aims to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries citywide by 2026. Coordinated by Long Beach’s Public Works Department, the plan will use data analysis, community input and best practice research to identify programs and policies that can make Long Beach streets safer for everyone.
