Dog Attack Near LA River In Long Beach Leaves Woman Badly Injured

A woman sustained non-life-threatening wounds when she was bitten by a dog near the Los Angeles River in Long Beach, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries when she was bitten by at least one dog near the Los Angeles River in Long Beach, police said Monday.

The attack was reported at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday near the river and Anaheim Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The woman was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to her upper body.

Police said officers had to use a baton to strike the animal and deploy a Taser to separate the dog from the woman.

According to police, investigators later determined that two dogs were involved in the attack and that both were captured and were being held by city animal control officials.

It is currently unclear if the dogs have owners or not.
