LONG BEACH, CA —The Downtown Long Beach Alliance selected internal applicant Austin Metoyer as its new President and CEO. Metoyer is the Alliance's first new president and CEO in 25 years.

Metoyer has been with the DLBA since 2016 and has most recently served as its Development and Policy Manager working toward improving downtown Long Beach's quality of life and economy. Metoyer is a Long Beach native and completed his Bachelor's Degree in International Business at California State University, Long Beach and received a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California.

“I am honored to serve and lead during such a pivotal time for the organization and the future of Downtown Long Beach," Metoyer said in a statement. "My family and I have deep roots in the city and a passion for seeing the community prosper. I truly believe a successful Downtown is vital to the overall success of Long Beach.”

The DLBA Board selected Metoyer after conducting a national search for a new candidate and vetted hundreds of candidates over the course of six months.

Metoyer's achievements with DLBA include spearheading the Alliance's Roadmap to Recovery Strategic Plan, a retail and office recruitment strategy, and completing the renewal of the downtown prosperity-based improvement district for the next decade.

“With the completion of the PBID Renewal, DLBA’s new Strategic Plan and DEIA Equity Framework, I look forward to continue working with our Board, dedicated staff, city officials, and the entire community to implement and execute strategies to accelerate recovery and create a vibrant Downtown that is reflective of a dynamic and diverse Long Beach," Metoyer said.
