Off-Duty Officer Robbed, Shoots At Suspects: Long Beach Police
The officer was approached by a male who pointed "what is believed to be a firearm" at him while another male robbed him, police said.
LONG BEACH, CA — An off-duty police officer fired shots at two people who tried to rob him Sunday in Long Beach, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Bixby Road and Orange Avenue when the officer was approached by a male who pointed “what is believed to be a firearm” at him while another male robbed him, police said in a news release.
“The off-duty officer fired shots towards the suspects,” according to the news release.

The officer was not hurt and the suspects fled, police said, adding it is unknown if either of the suspects was struck by the gunfire.
“As with all officer-involved shooting incidents, the Department will be conducting a full and thorough multi-level review of the incident,” according to the news release.
