E-biker Dies After Losing Control, Hitting Center Median In Long Beach

Rescuers took the man to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man riding an e-bike died Friday after losing control and crashing into a center median in Long Beach, police say.

Officers responded to Artesia Boulevard and Indiana Avenue about an unresponsive person in the center median at about 9:40 p.m. and arrived to find an unconscious man, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Rescuers with the Long Beach Fire Department performed life-saving measures on the man, then took him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Initial investigation shows the man was riding an e-bike east in the far-left lane of Artesia Boulevard when he lost control and hit the curb of the center median, police said.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will determine the man’s identity, police said.
