E-biker Who Died After Losing Control, Hitting Center Median In Long Beach Identified

Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to contact police.

LONG BEACH, CA — An e-biker who died after losing control and crashing into a center median in Long Beach has been identified.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 59-year-old Robert Neal.

Officers responded to Artesia Boulevard and Indiana Avenue about an unresponsive person in the center median at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, and arrived to find an unconscious man, later identified as Neal, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Rescuers with the Long Beach Fire Department performed life-saving measures on Neal, then took him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Initial investigation shows Neal was riding an e-bike east in the far-left lane of Artesia Boulevard when he lost control and hit the curb of the center median, police said.
