Felon Charged With Murdering Man In Front Of Child To Appear In Court Today
Jason Monroe Daniels will appear in court today to determine whether or not there's enough evidence to move forward with a trial.

LONG BEACH, CA – A 33-year-old ex-con who's accused of going to his ex- girlfriend's Long Beach home and gunning down a man in front of her 6-year-old son will appear in court to determine if there's enough evidence to move forward with a trial today.
Prosecutors asked that bail be set at $4.28 million for Jason Monroe Daniels, who is also facing one felony count each of child abuse and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Daniels visited his ex-girlfriend's home in the 500 block of Cherry Avenue on April 19, according to prosecutors. When he saw William Luther Hayes, 38, outside the home spending time with the woman's 6-year-old son, he allegedly got agitated and shot the victim in front of the boy before fleeing.

Neither Daniels — who was picked up by U.S. marshals in Las Vegas two weeks later — nor Hayes is the boy's father, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Daniels faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted as charged.
