Fire Damages Sorority House In Long Beach
A firefighter was injured battling the blaze at the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority house.
LONG BEACH, CA — A firefighter was injured in a fire that damaged the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority house in Long Beach Monday.
Firefighters were sent to the 3900 block of East Eighth Street at 5:36 a.m. and extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes, said Long Beach fire Capt. Jack Crabtree.
The firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor injury, Crabtree said. Firefighters rescued three people from a balcony, Crabtree said.

The sorority is affiliated with California State University, Long Beach. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
