LONG BEACH, CA — What started out as a date near the Aquarium of the Pacific turned out to be a setup resulting in a man being robbed and shot Monday night, Long Beach police said.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, police were called to a hospital in Los Angeles at about 10 p.m. to speak with a man who was suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound in his lower body.

Preliminary investigation results revealed that the man was on what he believed to be a date with a woman that he knew, according to police. The pair met and drove to the 100 block of Aquarium Way where the woman led him to another car with three other men inside, detectives said.
