Fuego’s Final Latin Brunch Stop Is Nicaragua On December 17

Executive Chef Victor Juarez takes Fuego guests on a monthly culinary tour through Latin America in 2017

Fuego makes its final stop in Nicaragua on its 12-country Latin American brunch tour on Sunday, December 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fuego’s authentic Nicaraguan dishes will be accentuated by live Latin jazz music with The Sounds of Nicaragua. Free Latin dance demonstrations will also be offered during brunch.

Guests looking for an extended Nicaraguan experience will also enjoy the daily offerings of Fuego’s Nicaraguan entrees “Chili Relleno” and “Carne Asada” and the featured Nicaraguan dessert “Orange Flan.” The Nicaraguan drink of the month is “Macuá” with Captain Morgan White, agave nectar, fresh lemon juice and a splash of soda.

Fuego, the modern, Latin infused indoor-outdoor restaurant and lounge, offers a unique seaside setting featuring 13-foot-tall glass walls that fully retract with seating inside and on the patio area. Fuego’s stunning open-air views include the Pacific Ocean, Long Beach skyline and Queen Mary.

“It’s been quite a culinary journey this year as we traveled throughout Latin America with Executive Chef Juarez,” said Jeff Dieter, Director of Restaurants at Hotel Maya - a DoubleTree by Hilton. “Each month our guests have experienced a wide-range of authentic Latin fare, in addition to culturally specific music and dance. It’s been an incredibly satisfying Latin American experience all on Fuego’s waterfront patio.”

The Latin American Brunch series has traveled a 12-month journey including its last stop in Nicaragua on December 17, along with its eleven other stops with Cuba in January, Argentina in February, Costa Rica in March, Colombia in April, Mexico in May, El Salvador in June, Brazil in July, Chile in August, Venezuela in September, Guatemala in October and Peru in November.

For December, Executive Chef Juarez has prepared a culinary tour stop in Nicaragua that begins with sensational Salads featuring Salpicon, Ensalada Russa aka Beet and Potato Salad, Hearts of Palm Salad, Cheese and Tomato Salad, Fuego Caesar Salad, Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato; along with domestic and imported cheeses, sliced fresh fruits, grilled vegetables, shrimp cocktail and cocktail mixto.

Enjoy Fuego’s Nicaraguan Nacatamales featuring Banana Leave Wrapped Tamales with steamed yucca root, cabbage escabeche and fresh homemade salsas.

Nicaraguan Brunch entrees are ordered from the server and offer a choice of Fuego Eggs Benedict with two poached eggs, sautéed spinach, applewood smoked bacon, English muffins, hollandaise, broiled tomato and hash browns; Vaho with pork, skirt steak, green plantain and fried yucca and curtido aka cabbage, Escabeche and gallo pinto aka mixture of rice and beans; Pandulce French Toast with strawberry cream stacked brioche, toasted candied pecans, maple syrup and whipped cream; Arrachera Steak with grilled skirt steak, fried plantains, pickled cabbage and gallo pinto aka mixture of rice and beans; Vigorón with fried pork, steamed yucca root, curtido aka pickled cabbage; Pollo Encebollado with sautéed chicken, onions, mustard and worchershire sauce, steamed white rice, tomato and cucumber salad; Huachinango with pan-seared whole fish, herbed tomato sauce, cabbage salad, tomato and cucumber; or Grilled Lobster Tail with a 12-ounce lobster tail, butter, cilantro garlic sauce, steamed white rice, and cucumber and tomato salad - for an additional $10.

Delicious Nicaraguan desserts include an assortment of mini breakfast pastries, tres leches cake, arroz con leche, orange flan with caramel sauce, along with assorted mini cakes, vanilla raisin bread pudding, buñuelos, pineapple empanadas, pandulce, horchata and tamarindo.

The Latin American Brunch Series – Nicaragua costs $55.00 per adult and children, 13 and older; $25.00 for children, 12 and under; kids 5 and under feast for free; plus tax and gratuity.
