In celebration of Earth Day, Green Education, Inc, in collaborationwith Leadership Long Beach, and Green Long Beach! are kicking off the first annual Green Prize Festival on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
The Green Prize Festival is a one day event highlighting urban farmers, green chefs, live entertainment, artists,green technology, environmental organizations as well as education through workshops, demonstrations and
guest speakers.
The event will also feature green vendors, a free bike valet provided by The Bicycle Stand, a beer garden featuring Beechwood Brewing, food trucks and children’s activities.
Festival founder, Stella Ursua of Green Education notes, “In an effort to highlight and promote local achievements in sustainability and to create a more environmentally focused city, not only on Earth Day but every day, we are proud to introduce the “Green Prize” annual award program.
This prestigious award will honor those illustrating excellence in sustainability within the city of Long Beach, whether it be an individual,school, neighborhood, restaurant, nonprofit,business, or governmental body.”The day will begin with delicious, affordable, “Farm to Table” meals prepared by The Lady Farmer by Savory Sweet Eclectic and More!, while supplies last so get there early! Go Metro Los Angeles and Save $1 on your Farm to Fork lunch, too!
Enjoy live entertainment all day long on the Long Beach Independent Stage. The event will run from 11am to 6pm and is free to the public. All are invited to celebrate the Earth while enjoying a beautiful ocean view at Bixby Park.
