Human Skull, Possibly Child, Found During SoCal Easter Egg Hunt
Family members reportedly said the remains appeared to be the skull and bones of a small child.
LONG BEACH, CA — A Long Beach neighborhood is on edge after a human skull was discovered during an Easter egg hunt at a local park.
Police responded to a report around 5 p.m. on Sunday at DeForest Park regarding the possible discovery of human remains, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
On Monday, LBPD confirmed the remains are human.

Per CBS Los Angeles, family members told them off-camera that what appeared to be the skull and bones of a small child were discovered while children were searching for Easter eggs.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the remains were found near the Los Angeles River and wetlands.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
On Monday, police were still at the scene of the discovery as the investigation continued. Police set up a canopy over the site while investigators searched the area.
No additional information was immediately available.
Police said no suspects were in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
