Independent Boutiques In Long Beach Among Highest-Rated In The U.S.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach has one of the highest concentrations of highly-rated independent boutiques in the U.S., according to new research from business lender OnDeck.

The study analyzed the reviews of 17,411 independent stores across the nation and found that Long Beach boutiques have an average score of 4.29 out of 5. This rating landed Long Beach a spot in the nation's top 10 cities with the most loved independent boutiques.

Long Beach's highest-rated shop, Hobo Jane Boutique, is located in Belmont Shore and ranked second in the nation.

According to the study, the success of indie stores lies in balancing a distinct personality alongside a sturdy reliability.

To create the list, researchers started with a list of the 100 most populated cities in the U.S. and gathered star ratings and review counts on Yelp in each city. Cities with fewer than 50 independent stores were omitted, as well as stores with fewer than 50 reviews.

Researchers calculated a weighted average score for each city and repeated the process to create subcategories for independent stores ranked highest for women's clothing and accessories.
