Knife-Wielding Man Runs From Police, Hit By Car That Fled Scene
He ran into Long Beach Boulevard where he was struck by a southbound vehicle, authorities said. The driver did not stop.

LONG BEACH, CA – A man holding a knife was injured when he tried to bolt from Long Beach police and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, authorities said Monday. Officers responded at 11:15 p.m. Sunday to a call about a knife-wielding man at the Blue Line station at Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street, said Long Beach Police Lt. Omar Martinez.
When the man saw police, he ran into Long Beach Boulevard where he was struck by a southbound vehicle, Martinez said. The driver did not stop.
The suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the lieutenant said. He will face misdemeanor charges.

Investigators were looking for evidence and will check surveillance video to try to identify the hit-and-run vehicle, he said.
