Students and families at Nieto Herrera Elementary School were among the first in the Long Beach Unified School District to receive $655,000 in free children's books during a recent outdoor book distribution. More than 75,000 books are being distributed to local students.

The donation is part of 651,802 books and magazines valued at nearly $5 million that the Foundation has given to groups in California through the 2020 Book Buddies program called Families Learning Together.
