Man Killed After Being Struck By 3 Vehicles In Long Beach Identified

LONG BEACH, CA — A pedestrian who died after being struck by three vehicles in Long Beach earlier this month has been identified as 65-year-old Juvenal Banderas, authorities said Sunday.

Banderas was struck at about 7:25 p.m. Sept. 13 on Pacific Avenue, north of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

As Patch previously reported, police said Banderas was walking east across Pacific Avenue outside a marked crosswalk when he stepped into the roadway from the center median.

Investigators said he was first struck by an unidentified white SUV and then by an unidentified dark-colored sedan. A third vehicle, a 2021 Jaguar, also struck him.

The Jaguar driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. The drivers of the other two vehicles did not stop as required and remain sought.

Police said speed, distracted driving and impaired driving do not appear to have been factors in the collision.
