Man Who Was Killed By SUV In Long Beach Identified
A 67-year-old man who was struck and killed by an SUV in Long Beach on Saturday has been identified by authorities.
LONG BEACH, CA — A man who was struck and killed by an SUV in Long Beach on Saturday has been identified by authorities.
The victim was ID'd by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as 67-year-old Darryl Roundtree.
Officers responded at 7:55 p.m. Saturday to the area of Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road, where the victim was found in the roadway, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Roundtree, who sustained blunt traumatic injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
``The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway, outside of a marked crosswalk,'' according to a police statement.

The motorist driving the Subaru stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said. Neither speed, distracted driving, nor driving under the influence was believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
