With No Arrests In June Homicide, Long Beach Police Look To Public For Answers

A 34-year-old man was fatally shot during a robbery in June, according to police.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police detectives have released a video of a suspect in a fatal June shooting as they look to the public for answers.

The newly released footage shows a man walking on video surveillance before the fatal shooting on June 27, the Long Beach Police Department announced Wednesday.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard just before 8 p.m., police said.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to police. Officers helped the man until Long Beach Fire rescuers arrived and declared the man dead at the scene, police said.

A motive for the shooting was initially unclear, but through an investigation, detectives determined 34-year-old Dajion Hunter was shot during a robbery, according to police.

The suspect is described as being a man in his 20s or 30s, “wearing a light blue or teal hat, a red shirt, a light-colored zip-up hooded sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes,” according to police.

Detectives believe the man may “frequent the Northpointe Apartments in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard,” police said.
