Parking Dispute Escalates Into Shooting In Long Beach
The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that escalated into a shooting near Alamitos Heights Thursday night.
LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that escalated into a shooting near Alamitos Heights Thursday night.
According to the LBPD, officers were dispatched to the 5200 block of East 2nd Street after receiving a report about an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, a man told officers he tried to park his car in a parking lot in the 5600 block of East 7th Street sometime before 11 p.m. and hit another car that was also trying to park.
No injuries were reported in the collision, police said.

After the crash, the victim told LBPD that the other driver got out of his car and attempted to argue with him, but he remained inside his car.
"This resulted in the suspect revealing a firearm and discharging one round into the victim’s vehicle," the LBPD said in a statement.

There were no injuries reported in the shooting. Both the victim and the other driver left the scene after the dispute police said. Authorities said the victim called the police after he relocated to a different area.
No information about the driver of the other car was available and the investigation was still ongoing according to LBPD.
