Police Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision In Downtown Long Beach
Long Beach Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred at West Shoreline Drive and Broadway on March 11.
LONG BEACH, CA — LBPD Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred in the area of West Shoreline Drive and Broadway on March 11.
The collision resulted in the death of an adult male whose identity is being withheld by police pending identification and notification of the next of kin by the L.A. County Department of the Medical Examiner’s office.
The incident occurred around 7:23 p.m. on Wednesday when officers responded to an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle. Personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department were on scene and had determined the motorcyclist was deceased, according to the LBPD.

The preliminary investigation found that a black 2003 BMW K1200 GT was traveling southbound on West Shoreline Drive and merged onto the Broadway off-ramp when the motorist lost control, went over the concrete barrier, and hit a pole.
Speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the collision, police said.
