Police Search For Suspect Who Dropped Firearm During Chase

The man was wanted on a felony warrant, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach police searched Tuesday for a man who ran from a traffic stop and dropped a firearm during a brief foot pursuit.

The incident began about 1 a.m. when officers tried to pull over a vehicle that led them on a brief chase to the 5600 block of Lime Avenue, said Long Beach police Lt. James Richardson.

The male driver, who was alone in the vehicle, got out and ran off but dropped a firearm during a foot pursuit by officers, Richardson said.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area and called in a SWAT team to assist in the search for the suspect. Police also learned that the man was wanted on a felony warrant, Richardson said.
