Long Beach Shooting: At Least 1 Dead, Multiple People Injured

The shooter is believed to be dead at the scene, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach police confirm at least one person has died at the scene of that shooting on San Antonio Drive and are now calling it a murder investigation, according to a report from City News Service. The shooter is also believed to be dead at the scene, police said.

Several people have been injured following a report of an active shooter in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach Friday afternoon, police officials said. Large numbers of police and fire responders were on the scene at San Antonio Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, according to a Press-Telegram reporter. Some officers were reportedly walking around with rifles, and officials started taping off the outer perimeter of the scene at about 3 p.m., according to a Press-Telegram reporter.

At about 2:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of San Antonio Dr. regarding a possible active shooter at a local business, the Long Beach Police Department said. When officers arrived, a shooting incident with multiple victims involved was confirmed. The number of victims and their conditions are unknown at this time.
