Shoppers To Find Holiday Deals At Downtown Long Beach Retailers On Black Friday And Thanksgiving Weekend
An estimated 137.4 million shoppers say they will or may shop on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and/or Sunday

There’s plenty of savings and specials at Downtown Long Beach retailers on Black Friday and beyond at the more than 34 retail, specialty, entertainment and dining outlets ranging from apparel and electronics to toys and gift cards, among others. Centered in between Third Street, Sixth Street, Pine Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, the Downtown core is the popular holiday spot to shop for Thanksgiving Weekend deals from Thursday, November 24 through Sunday, November 27.
According to the National Retail Federation, NFR, more than 137.4 million shoppers will be out in force over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Consumers plan to spend an average of $935.58 during the overall holiday shopping season. Total spending includes gifts for others, self-spending, food, flowers, decorations and greeting cards for Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Total planned spending this year is second only to the record total spending in 2015, at $952.58.

The top five gifts that people have on their holiday gift lists this season include 61 percent will purchase clothing or clothing accessories, 56 percent said they will buy gift cards, 44 percent said they will purchase books, CDs, DVDs and/or video games, 42 percent said they will buy toys, and 31 percent will buy food and/or candy.
“Black Friday remains one of the busiest shopping days of the year, with Americans planning to take advantage of aggressive in-store and digital promotions over the entire holiday weekend,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said. “Retailers know consumers are spreading out their holiday budgets to shop throughout the season. While there’s no doubt of the incredible promotions offered during the weekend, the holiday shopping season is long and consumers will look for and expect great deals down to the very last minute.”

Consumers will shop around while splitting their time between several destinations including department stores and discount stores. The survey also found that 34 percent will shop at clothing stores and 23 percent at small or local businesses.
