The museum recently held an opening reception for the middle school exhibition “My Long Beach” in the Toyota Children’s Gallery, where 85 student artists from six middle schools were honored. Hundreds attended the event, including students’ families, art teachers and school administrators.
For the exhibit, students were invited to create a work of art that explores their own community – either the city they live in, their neighborhood or their school. The museum received works in a wide variety of media including paper, acrylics, ceramics, painted mini-canvases, and repurposed books and game boards.
